Goa Budget 2025: ₹2100 Crore for Education; Internships Mandatory for Graduation

The Goa government has earmarked ₹2100 crore for the education sector in the Goa Budget 2025, presented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Internship Becomes Mandatory

This initiative aims to provide students with practical experience and better prepare them for the workforce.

Focus on Coding and Robotics

The budget allocates ₹19.91 crore for coding and robotics education under the CM-CARES (Coding and Robotics Education in Schools) scheme. The scheme includes:

  • Establishment of two centers of excellence
  • Proctored test centers in all 12 talukas of Goa

Enhancing E-Learning

To enhance e-learning, the budget includes provisions for:

  • Providing one laptop per class in government middle schools
  • Upgrading computer laboratories in these institutions

Skill Development Initiatives

The CM skill development scheme includes an accessory kit worth ₹20,000 for students studying:

  • Apparels and home furnishing
  • Beauty and wellness
  • Agriculture
  • Automobile courses under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) in higher secondary schools

Infrastructure Development

₹200 crore has been allocated to complete building repairs of all schools before the monsoon season.

  • Literacy Target: Aiming for 100% literacy in the next financial year as part of sustainable development goals.
  • GSDP Projection: Projected GSDP at current prices for 2025-26 at ₹1,38,624.86 crore with a growth rate of 14.27%.
  • Per Capita Income: Projected per capita income of ₹9.69 lakh, indicating a robust economy.
  • Tax incentives for tourism entrepreneurs setting up hotels in rural areas
  • Full SGST reimbursement for the first 5 years for industries investing more than ₹5,000 crore
