Gandhiji initially paid a visit to IISc in 1927 and delivered a speech describing his goals for the institution’s research. In 1936, he returned to pay another visit.

Celebrations in Schools

Every year on October 2nd, schools in India host a variety of festivities to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. Schoolchildren happily participate in the Gandhi Jayanti activities. Students perform a song that is based on Bapu’s teachings of truth and nonviolence. They read poetry and share their personal interpretations of Gandhi’s ideas.

Small children perform nationalistic songs and dress up in Gandhi Ji costumes to commemorate this occasion. Students use banners at the march to emphasise the importance of peace and nonviolence across the nation.
