Five new programs LAUNCH by IIT Mandi to prepare students for Industry experts

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has launched five new programs for the academic session 2023. The initiative focused on enhancing the skill and specialized knowledge in their emerging field.
The new courses include BTech in general engineering, BTech in materials sciences and engineering, BTech in chemical science, BTech in microelectronics, and VLSI. Admission for all these new programs is open. The admission process for all these programs is done through JEE Advanced 2023 ranking system, and the candidate can visit the website.

On the occasion, IIT Mandi, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, said, “IIT Mandi emphasized giving priority to academic excellence and innovation, ensuring that students receive an inclusive education that trained the students for the evolving expectations of the industry.” She also added that the demands raised interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary skillsets for the ever-developing world, the programs at IIT Mandi will help the students advance their skills as per the industry standard while keeping in view the NEP 2020-aligned programs.”

Summary of IIT Mandi New Programmes

BTech in General Engineering
The first two years will serve as an introduction to engineering studies with courses in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Data Science, and Computer Science. During the final two years, students can opt out for a specialization from several options including energy engineering, advanced manufacturing, e-mobility, artificial intelligence and robotics, and other emerging sectors such as fashion design and technology, animation, and product design, paving their path based on their interests and career goals.

BS Program in Chemical Sciences

IIT Mandi’s School of Chemical Sciences is set to begin with a comprehensive 4-year Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Chemical Sciences. An IIT Mandi statement said, The program will allow students to specialize in key branches of Chemistry, including Inorganic, Physical, and Materials Chemistry, Organic. The course will also provide research opportunities at the BS level. Students will get an opportunity to engage themselves in research at an early stage. The duration of the program is four years for the BS program including an optional 1-year MS.

BTech in Mathematics and Computing

The official statement reads The BTech program in Mathematics and Computing will offer students a strong foundation in mathematics, computing, and computational thinking. It will be emphasized developing analytical and problem-solving skills that can be applied across several fields in science and engineering.

BTech in Material Science and Engineering

The program BTech in Material Science and Engineering seeks to train students with theoretical knowledge and practical experiences on both conventional and advanced materials.
