Education Minister: Dharmendra Pradhan urges students, teachers & parents to plant 10 million trees by August 15

On Friday, July 20th, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, asked everyone, including students and teachers, to work together to plant 10 million trees by August 15, during this monsoon season.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mission LiFE, the Minister made a plea on Twitter for everyone to take part in the plantation effort to “protect and preserve our environment.”
“I firmly think that we have an inherent obligation to look after and safeguard our environment for future generations. All my students friends, instructors, and parents are urged to aim to plant 10 million trees by August 15th, Education Minister stated.
Education Minister, later added, “As the United Nations Environment Programme says climate emergency and our over-exploitation of natural resources can not be quick fix through technical means alone. But, to have nature with its immense restorative power, this monsoon session lets the showers nurture these trees which are not just massive impactful numbers but symbols of scope and progress. Each one contributes to a healthier planet as we take individual and collective attempts to protect and preserve the environment aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s’ Mission LiFE.”
As a result of global warming & climate change in certain regions of the country are experiencing unusually frequent floods and drought-like conditions, which is of concern to everyone.
Pradhan’s tweeter post reads, “In light of the #COP28, this is going to be a ‘prime opportunity to rethink, reboot, and refocus the climate agenda’.
The initiative aims to bring people all together to turn the dream into reality by creating a lasting impact on a sustainable and greener environment.
Environmental experts assert that trees can help control river flows both during dry seasons and times of heavy precipitation, reducing the risk of water scarcity and flooding.
The plantation effort is anticipated to benefit the ecology. It will contribute to cleaner air, lessen pollution, and water conservation.
Additionally, it will contribute to the improvement of the environment’s beauty and viability for coming generations.
