Department of Jarahat Hosts Valedictory Session of CME for Unani Medical Officers


Aligarh : Department of Jarahat at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU, organized the valedictory session of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program for Unani Medical Officers, sponsored by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The session, held at the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Auditorium, emphasized advancements in medical education and integration of technology in Unani medicine.
In his presidential address, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Gulrez, former Vice Chancellor of AMU, highlighted the need for integrating artificial intelligence and related technologies into CME programs. He also acknowledged the state-of-the-art facilities available in the Department of Jarahat and Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, made possible through collaboration with other institutions of AMU, such as JN Medical College, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, and interdisciplinary research centers. He encouraged utilizing these advanced resources for training both students and external experts.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, OSD to the Vice Chancellor and Director of Schools, emphasized that continuous improvement in knowledge and practices is essential for medical officers. He expressed hope that the participants would apply the new insights gained from the program in their medical practice for the greater benefit of society.
Guest of Honour Prof. Dr. Wasim Ahmad, Principal and Medical Superintendent of State Unani Medical College, Prayagraj, commended the selection of experts for the CME. He noted the Ministry of AYUSH’s commitment to promoting such training programs for teachers, practitioners, and Unani medical officers.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Tafseer Ali, expressed gratitude to AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naima Khatoon and former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Gulrez for their continuous support in promoting research and academic excellence. He also extended his thanks to Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Asfar Ali Khan for encouraging the organizers and participants.
Prof. Dr. Waseem Ahmad, an alumnus of AMU, was appreciated for his continued support in various capacities within AYUSH at state and national level. Special acknowledgment was given to Prof. Dr. Nazar Abbas, Head of the Department of Moalejat, Jaipur, Rajasthan, for his contributions to the establishment of the Advanced Centre for Endoscopy in the Department of Jarahat.
The organizing secretaries, Dr. Rabia Riaz and Dr. Hafiz Hamza Bilal, efficiently managed the college auditorium, while Dr. Mohd Tarique reported that 24 lectures and 24 practical demonstrations were conducted by experts over the six-day program. Nishan-e-Yadgari mementos were presented to distinguished guests and organizing committee members.
Six participants from different states shared their feedback before the guests, appreciating the program’s structure and impact.
The valedictory session concluded with address by Dr. Simeen Usmani marking the culmination of this significant CME program.
