New Delhi:- The Bong documentary filmmaker, producer and journalist Ehasaas Kanjilal is all set to begin shooting her second documentary directorial, *The Sacred Skulls*, a profound exploration of the mysterious and fascinating world of Aghoris. The shoot commences on January 14, 2025, at the Maha Snaan during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Following the overwhelming success of her debut documentary, *Red Knots*, which garnered over 30 awards both nationally and internationally, Ehasaas is ready to delve deeper into untold stories. *The Sacred Skulls* promises to be a compelling deep dive into the existence, beliefs, lifestyle, history, and current realities of the enigmatic Aghori sect.
Starting from the Maha Kumbh Mela, Ehasaas and her team will traverse key epicenters of Aghori culture, including Varanasi, Haridwar, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Kamakhya, Kamroop, and the iconic Ganga Sagar. The documentary seeks to unravel the lesser-known facets of this mystical sect, bridging ancient traditions with modern realities.
Produced by Delhi-based Gaurav Chhabra and his Mumbai based production house Pragyamatic Films, Co- produced by Saurav Chhabra and presented by acclaimed actress Tanusree Chakraborty, *The Sacred Skulls* promises an immersive visual and narrative experience. “This is not just a documentary but a spiritual journey,” said Ehasaas. “Through *The Sacred Skulls*, we aim to shed light on the misunderstood and often misrepresented Aghoris while capturing the essence of their beliefs and rituals.”
