Deadline for National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2022 extended to November 30, 2022

National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme
The deadline to apply for the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) has been extended once more. Students who have not yet enrolled for the NMMSS and wish to take the scholarship exam may do so until November 30. Scholarships.gov.in has application forms for the NMMSS. Scholarships are awarded to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds under the NMMSS in order to reduce dropouts in Class 8 and encourage them to continue their education at the secondary level.
Each year, one lakh scholarships are awarded to selected students from Class 9 in State Government, Government-aided, and local body schools. Scholarships are worth INR 12000/- per year.
The National Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is housed on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), a one-stop website for student scholarship programmes. NMMSS scholarships are dispersed directly into chosen students’ bank accounts via electronic transfer via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) using the DBT mechanism. This is a plan that is entirely funded by the government.
Eligibility Criteria for NMMSS 2022-23
Students who have a total parental income of less than INR 3,50,000/- per year are eligible for the scholarships. Students must have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the Class VII examination to be eligible to take the scholarship selection test (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
There are two levels of verification, L1 is Institute Nodal Officer (INO) Level and L2 is District Nodal Officer (DNO) level. The last date of INO level (L1) verification is December 15, 2022, and of DNO level (L2) verification is December 30, 2022.
