CAT 2023: Application process going on ; here’s to know about IIM selection process
The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 application procedure is now under progress. The deadline for CAT 2023 application forms is September 13. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will post the list of applicants who have been shortlisted for the next round of selection on their websites following the exam’s November administration and results announcement.
The shortlisted candidates will receive interview invitations directly from each IIM. According to a formal statement, different IIMs use different shortlisting criteria.
IIMs use their own, maybe separate criteria to choose candidates for the interview stage. A written ability test (WAT), a group discussion (GD), and personal interviews (PI) may be a part of the procedure.
Candidates who have been selected by an IIM for an interview must present specific documents when applying for admission. These consist of certificates for the reserved category, degrees, and mark sheets. The CAT official release further stated that the qualifying degree or equivalent mark sheet and certificate must be submitted by December 31, 2024.
Additionally, “Non fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission. Provisional admission will also be cancelled if subsequently it is found that the submitted certificate is incorrect.”
The CAT 2023 exam is a crucial part of the admissions process. IIMs may also shortlist and rank applicants at different stages of the admissions process using other criteria such the applicants’ prior academic performance, pertinent job experience, gender and academic diversity, and other comparable inputs. Across IIMs, there may be differences in the procedures, academic cutoffs, and weights given to the evaluation metrics. Candidates have been urged to consult each IIM’s particular admissions policies on their websites.
