Campus Placement Without a brand or alumni, how do new universities get jobs for freshers (2)

Central University Tamil Nadu’s placement rates have been appalling despite the institution’s placement cell’s existence for four years. The university’s placement officer, Velmurugan PS, claims that the majority of students decline to participate in campus recruitment events. The cell has developed plans to ensure job offers for those who do.

Young universities must deal with crowded job markets, low-paying recruiters, disadvantageous locations, as well as general lack of recognition, while more established institutions have developed close relationships with frequent recruiters.

The coordinators of placement cells reported that there is still a lot of interest in government positions, particularly in public organisations. However, the placement cells are accelerating the process and encouraging students to consider different options.

Particularly in non-professional courses, half of the graduating classes at Central University Jammu choose to continue their education or get ready to take competitive tests. “The majority of students are only aware of a select few alternatives, such as applying for government employment or PhDs, but those who participate are already receiving offers. For instance, nine MSc Physics and MSc Chemistry students received annual packages of Rs. 6.5 lakh during the university’s ongoing employment campaign, according to Viraj Magotra, training and placement officer.

While many tier-two institutions had profited from the employment surge during the epidemic, the current global slump has caused placement rates to once again decline. The first batch of BA LLB and BBA LLB graduates who graduated during the second wave of COVID-19 did not receive job offers, according to placement cell reports from a National Law School formed in 2016. In 2022, the college organised its first virtual job fair, and 46% of the students who attended were able to secure employment. It has also been challenging this year.
