BHU honoured as a GATI achiever for its efforts to empower women in STEMM

The Union department of science and technology (DST) has recognised the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for its achievements as part of the GATI (Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions) project.
The DST and the British Council have developed a system to rate institutions based on their gender equality in STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine).
BHU has won recognition for carrying out the programme successfully and making noteworthy efforts. Banaras Hindu University played a significant role, and the department acknowledged this, saying that “BHU’s exemplary work showcased its commitment to driving the next step by making action plans to ensure enhanced participation of women scientists at all levels.” The esteemed designation is the first of its kind to honour organisations for the outstanding work they have accomplished for women in STEMM through the programme. The designation would remain in effect for the following five years.
According to the university, the BHU has been recognised as a “GATI achiever” by the department. The BHU has won acclaim for carrying out the initiative well and making a significant effort.
