The Academy for Research and Higher Education (ARES) has announced the opening of applications for the ASEM-DUO Wallonia-Brussels Mobility Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2025-2026. This initiative aims to promote paired exchanges between professors or researchers from higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (FWB) and those in Asia-Pacific partner countries.
Programme Objectives:
Established in 2014, the ASEM-DUO Wallonia-Brussels Programme seeks to enhance academic collaboration and strengthen ties between institutions in the FWB and Asia-Pacific regions. By facilitating paired exchanges, the programme encourages the sharing of knowledge, research, and cultural perspectives, thereby enriching the educational experiences of participating institutions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Paired Exchange Requirement: Applications must be submitted in pairs, involving one professor or researcher from an FWB institution and a counterpart from an Asia-Pacific partner institution.
- Institutional Affiliation: Both applicants must be affiliated with higher education institutions recognized by their respective authorities.
- Exchange Duration: The proposed exchange should last between 18 days and 2 months (60 days).
Selection Criteria:
ARES evaluates applications based on the following factors:
- Impact on Institutional Collaboration: The potential of the exchange to develop or strengthen ties between the participating institutions.
- Level of Internationalization: The extent to which the project contributes to the internationalization objectives of both institutions.

Funding Details:
The scholarship covers the following expenses:
- International Travel: ARES will purchase economy-class flight or train tickets based on the dates provided in the application.
- Daily Allowance: A per diem is provided to cover accommodation, meals, and local transportation during the exchange period.
