The four-year undergraduate BSc Agriculture degree offers a wide range of topics, including entomology, fishery, forestry, horticulture, agricultural engineering, crop science, agricultural economics and marketing, and more.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2023) now includes a new category for the agricultural and allied industry, thanks to the Ministry of Education (MoE).

Agriculture course admissions have already started, and some institutes accept applicants based on their performance on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2023) score.

Results for the second-largest entrance exam, CUET UG 2023, were announced on July 15 at cuet.samarth.ac.in by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers the test.

Colleges that provide courses connected to agriculture will publish the merit list based on the candidates’ NTA scores. Let’s examine the top 5 agricultural colleges’ admissions procedures.

Indian Institute of Agricultural Research

The education ministry has placed IARI at the top of the NIRF 2023 rankings. Students are currently accepted by the Institute for the postgraduate programme. It offers MSc and MTech degree programmes through a competitive entrance exam administered by ICAR’s education division.

The performance of candidates in the written entrance examination, which carries 80% weightage, academic score (10% weightage), and an interview round (10% weightage) will, however, be dependent on admission to the IARI PhD courses in 26 fields.

The CUET UG result 2023 would be used to determine admission to BA in agriculture and related sciences, other than veterinary sciences, at agricultural universities for 20% of the available seats, according to a statement from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

According to the official website, 3,846 individuals were recommended by ICAR for admission to authorised bachelor degree programmes in 61 accredited AUs during the 2022–2023 academic year, out of a total of 4,285 seats. The CUET ICAR-UG 2023 determines the number of seats available for admission in several disciplines at approved agricultural institutions, including IARI.

Banaras Hindu University

BHU is ranked fourth in the NIRF India rankings for 2023. CUET score 2023 is required for entrance to the university’s BSc Agriculture programme. Agronomy, dairy science, extension agriculture, agricultural engineering, and horticulture are just a few of the disciplines within the faculty of agriculture. The number of BSc Agriculture seats available ranges from 154 for the BSc (Hons) Agriculture programme to 50 at the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus in Barkachha, Mirzapur.

Punjab University of Agriculture

Ludhiana’s Punjab Agricultural University – The university, which is ranked third in the NIRF 2023, uses entrance exams to admit students to its UG and PG programmes. On July 3, the registration period for submissions was closed.

However, applicants for four courses—MCA, MTech Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS), Diploma Course in Hybrid Seed Production Technology, and Diploma in Agriculture—will be eligible to enrol in the university’s agricultural programmes without taking an entrance exam. The admissions process for these courses will open on July 21 and run through July 28.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University

In addition to English and 14 UG programmes, the TNAU, which placed fifth in NIRF 2023, also offers BSc Agriculture and BSc Horticulture in Tamil.
