AMU research scholar presents paper at International Vedanta Congress

ALIGARH : Rubina Sultana, a research scholar in the Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University presented a research paper during the 27th session of the International Vedanta Congress, organized by the Centre for Philosophy, Jawaharlal Nehru University, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Philosophical Research, Central Sanskrit University and Centre for Indic Studies, UMass Dartmouth.
In her paper, titled, “From Vyavaharika to Paramarthika: Advaita Vedanta’s Key to Global Harmony and Sustainability,” she delves into Advaita Vedanta’s profound distinction between Vyavaharika (empirical reality) and Paramarthika (transcendental reality) as a guiding framework to address pressing global challenges.
Sultana said that by emphasizing non-duality, interconnectedness and ethical living, Advaita Vedanta critiques materialism while offering Vedantic principles as pathways to foster sustainability, social justice and harmony. Connecting ancient wisdom to modern issues reveals the transformative potential of Advaita Vedanta for creating a unified and compassionate world, she added.
Dr. Aquil Ahmad, Chairperson, Department of Philosophy, and Dr. Naushaba Anjum, Sultana’s Supervisor, appreciated her achievement and expressed hope that her participation would inspire other students to engage in similar academic endeavours.
