AMU Enthralls with Fit India Week 2025: Cricket Match Sparks Fitness Spirit
Aligarh : The Fit India Week 2025 celebrations at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) showcased an exhilarating cricket match at the historic Willingdon Pavilion, Sir Syed Hall (South). The one-day friendly game between the Hall Administration and Student teams highlighted fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The administration team, led by Sports Warden Dr. Mohd Atif Afzal and captained by Dr. Farooq Ahmad Dar (Provost, Sir Syed Hall South), featured players like Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Dr. S.M. Ahmar, Dr. Faizan, Dr. Mohammad Kaif Farshori, Dr. Kaleem Ahmad, and others. Their performance reflected AMU’s commitment to promoting fitness at all levels.
The student team, captained by Dr. Maaz Ahmad (MD Scholar), included Dr. Salman Ahmad, Dr. Wasif Raza, Dr. Nasir Wani, Dr. Syed Aqib Feroz, and other enthusiastic players. Their energy and dedication added vibrancy to the match.
Chief Guest Prof. Mohd Wasim Ali, University Proctor, inaugurated the event, engaging with players and emphasizing the transformative power of sports. He stated, “Fitness is vital for holistic growth and national well-being.” Guest of Honour Prof. Syed Ali Nawaz Zaidi, Deputy Proctor, inspired participants with his words and cricketing skills.
Assistant Proctor Dr. Rashid Imran and other notable attendees further enlivened the celebrations, underscoring AMU’s fitness-focused ethos.
