We all know that in the present time Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become so important. So the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology decides to introduce AI in the school curriculum. The AI will now be a part of the school curriculum and undergraduate programs. The decision is taken to fulfill the growing demand of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
In schools, the AI courses will be included from class 6th. The National Program on Artificial Intelligence (NPAI) made a declaration that AI and Data Science courses will be introduced to students across India.
Indian Education system wants to upgrade itself. It is ready to meet the future perspectives. Nowadays the AI scope is increasing day by day. To provide more opportunities in the AI landscape the significant step is taken. Students will excel in AI domain by learning new skills starting from school. It will develop the creativity, analytical, decision making skills among students.
Curriculum Development
Several education bodies are responsible for carrying out the adaptive task and make a comprehensive curriculum. Bodies like UGC, National Council of Vocational Education & Training, and AlCTE have been assigned a task to frame guidelines according to the requirement. A standard AI curriculum will cover the curriculum in schools and Undergraduate programs. It will help in better deployment of the curriculum.
Among these, UGC has informed with a report on its website, www.ugc.gov.in .
Importance for Students
The demand for AI professionals is increasing globally. To address this need, the government has taken this decision. It will help to fill the skill gap of 51% as suggested by the NASSCOM report.
The school curriculum will cover the basic concepts of the subject. The students will learn machine learning, data science, programing languages, etc.
The report also tells the importance of faculty training to enhance the skills of teachers. If the teachers are knowledgeable then they can teach better. From now onwards AI will not only be the part of Information Technology, but it will be a part of all courses. The curriculum provides full facility for non IT- graduates.
Commencement of the Curriculum
As discussed, the curriculum may be introduced in upcoming academic sessions. Government is doing at its best. The AI study will help in building strong nation. It will enhance the work force of India and meet the demand. As the skills will get better, it will help in creating better professionals across the nation.
