Summary The framework was created by updating the currently implemented Choice-Based Credit System. Additionally, the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes gives students a variety of entry and exit points. According to a university spokesperson, the Jamia Milla Islamia will begin offering four-year undergraduate honours degrees in the fall of 2019. This is in accordance with a direction from the University Grants Commission. A committee has been formed by the university to investigate efficient execution.

The Academic Council will hear the report of the committee in January, and the Executive Council, the highest decision-making body of the university, will then discuss it. At the moment, students must complete a three-year undergraduate programme in order to be eligible for an honours degree.

“A committee has been established to investigate how the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) guidelines for four-year undergraduate degrees are being implemented. The committee is investigating the situation, and it plans to present a report soon, according to Registrar Nazim Husain Al-Jafr.

He stated that the group is planning how to split the three-year curriculum into four years. “The subject will be considered by the Academic Council at its meeting in January. The Executive Council will then discuss the situation after that, according to Al-Jafri.

The UGC announced earlier this month the curriculum and credit structure for undergraduate programmes, which will give students a variety of admission and departure options, a choice between a single major and a double major, as well as interdisciplinary topic alternatives.

It has requested that all institutions of higher learning take the appropriate actions to adopt the undergraduate program’s curriculum and credit structure. The framework was created by updating the currently implemented Choice-Based Credit System.

Instead of the current three-year course, students will only be able to pursue a four-year honours degree under the programme. There will be two types of honours degrees available: honours and honours with research.

Additionally, the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes gives students a variety of entry and exit points. If they leave before the three-year mark, they will be permitted to return within three years of their departure and will be required to finish their degree within the allotted seven-year time frame.
