Scholars from Banaras Hindu University have been Chosen for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship.
For the May 2022 cycle, four research scholars from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have received Prime Minister’s Research Fellowships (PMRF). At the national level, a fairly stringent screening process is used to choose candidates for PMRF schemes. In an effort to support high-quality research, the PMRF plan works to draw the best research personnel.
Four research researchers from the institution have been chosen for the prestigious programme, which is only available to a select few Central Universities. Additionally, BHU disclosed the names of the students and the Departments/Centres chosen for the may 2022 Cycle.
- Bioinformatics specialist Sulagna Basu (Direct entry category),
- Gupta Pranshu Kumar (Chemistry),
- Punit Dubey, Institute of Science, Physics
- Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development’s Arpan Mukherjee (Lateral Entry).
As part of the fellowship programme, the chosen research scholars will get an alluring fellowship and a research contingency grant. The fellowship payment for each researcher will be Rs 70,000 per month for the first two years, Rs 75,000 per month for the third year, and Rs 80,000 per month for the fourth and fifth years. Researchers are also qualified to receive a research contingency award of Rs 2 lakh per year during the fellowship.
Professor Sudhir K. Jain, the vice chancellor of BHU, congratulated the research researchers on receiving the PMRF. He expressed optimism that, given recent structural modifications to the Ph.D. course work performed by the BHU and the high caliber of research and research scholars bestowed with the Institution, the number of choices from the university will significantly increase the next year
