On Monday, December 12, Vice-Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit announced that Jawaharlal Nehru University would establish a School of Indian Languages. To celebrate, this school is being established. The nation’s cultural richness and its availability of courses in various languages.

The VC further stated, “In order to establish chairs in the new School of Indian Languages that JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) is launching, many state governments are providing funding to the institution. They will develop into unique hubs for that state’s literature, culture, and history in addition to its languages “according to a PTI article.

The VC added that just a few states have already expressed interest “Tamil Nadu has already contributed 10 crore rupees. Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Assam are the other four states that will contribute Rs 10 crore each. We’ll have a 50 crore rupee corpus.” The VC provided additional information, revealing that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin approved approximately Rs 10 crore for the Center for Tamil Studies.

The institution is also addressing many states in this regard, the VC continued. Additionally, even though the university already offers a number of language courses, it now intends to add more.

Pandit mentioned research, graduate, and diploma programmes. The VC said to share more, “Several centres would be formed as a result. We’ll pay particular attention to culture and history. JNU has a strong brand and is well-known. We are the top university in India. These centres will provide master’s programmes and certificate courses.”

On Monday, December 12, JNU also kicked off Tamil Heritage Week and Indian Languages Week. She expressed her opinions in this regard and noted that the event is being planned. To carry out Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and goal for the national celebration of Indian languages’ history and legacy.

“To recognise the cultural variety of India, JNU is hosting Tamil Heritage Week and Indian Languages Week. JNU, one of the top institutes of higher learning, works to protect the Indian languages week is being observed to promote language harmony and an environment for learning Indian languages aside from the current national language.
