JEE Mains 2023

Many Tamil Nadu candidates for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2023 are in a pickle. Those who completed their Class X coursework through the state board did not receive a mark sheet, so they must now fill out an obligatory column on the JEE Main application form that requests their tenth-grade marks. The victims are the class of 2020–21 pupils. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tamil Nadu government cancelled the exam, and every student was given a pass. “Classes were suspended after February 2020, when they had been scheduled. There were no tests, and the slot for the marks earned on our Class X Board certificates—which we later received—was left blank, according to student Sarath Kumar from Tamil Nadu.

Instead, Tamil Nadu held Board exams in Class X, and we have the mark sheets for those. However, Class X scores are required for JEE application. Students who are confused have asked the National Testing Agency, which administers the exam, to clarify the situation on Twitter.

Twitter comments from students

A JEE candidate from the state named Buraga Rajasekhar (@BuragaRajasekh1) tweeted: “@DG NTA, We are from Tamil Nadu, and in 2020–21 we took Std. X state board exams. As a result of Corona, our state government has issued ALL PASS certificates to all students. They asked for 10th-grade marks when completing the JEE MAIN application. How do we proceed?

“How can I apply for JEE Main for Tamil Nadu 2021 batch 10th students, I just got pass in mark sheet and no board exam is performed due to COVID-19?” in a different tweet, Vishnu (@fogyknight), another student. However, Career Consultant Jayprakash Gandhi tweeted that current TN +2 state board students are unable to continue with the registration procedure for the upcoming JEE main test because they were unable to write their 10th board exams owing to the pandemic. I’m still perplexed as to how businesses like NTA can go without planning. SHAMEFUL.”

When asked if not having a mark sheet will be an issue in the future, Sarath responds, “It is possible, but I don’t think so, as we were handed the government-issued order proclaiming all of the kids in the batch as pass along with our Class X certificate.” But, he continued, the pupils are now in a difficult situation.

The student added that he had not yet submitted an application for JEE Main 2023 and that he was awaiting official clarification on the process. However, a few students from the state have reportedly applied via different channels, according to a report by The New Indian Express. While a select few filled out the application form with the minimal necessary marks, others filled it out without specifying any marks. However, these students are unsure if their applications will be approved or not. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the minister of school education for Tamil Nadu, announced that the Union Government would be contacted about the issue. And School Education issued a statement. Commissioner K Nandakumar urged the kids to focus on their entrance exam preparation without worrying.
