Delhi University

Only about 3,500 undergraduate seats were given out by the Delhi University in the most recent round of admissions, while approximately 6,000 seats are still available in various colleges, according to an official. According to them, about 64,000 of the 70,000 available undergraduate seats have already been filled. The application procedure is nearing its conclusion. According to a DU announcement, the deadline for applying to undergraduate and graduate programmes for the academic year 2022–23 is December 31.

On Thursday, the allocation list was made public. The kids may take the assigned seat if they are ill on Friday. According to a top official, not all 70,000 seats across colleges would be filled this academic year. DU “The university has assigned about 3,500 in the last slot admission,” said Haneet Gandhi, dean of admissions. By December 31st, the admissions process for the upcoming school year will be finished. When asked if there would be any additional rounds, he responded, “No, this is the final round for admission to undergraduate programmes.” This implies that 2,500 seats across colleges will remain unfilled despite 3,500 individuals accepting the offered seats.

The admissions procedure at DU is divided into three stages: the application process, filing of preferences, and seat allotment/admittance. This year, instead of using students’ Class 12 grades to determine admission, universities will use the results of the Common University Entrance Test. Off-campus universities saw the greatest percentage of empty seats. In the past, it was difficult to fill the seats.

The official responded that this year’s withdrawal of admission has been less frequent when asked if the delay in starting the admission process was to blame. Due to the tardy beginning of the admissions process, only those who were genuinely interested in enrolling at Delhi University applied. This year, she noted, there are fewer withdrawals than there were last year.
