BTech Student, 3 Others held for Malpractice in TOEFL, GRE Exams
BTech Student
Four people, including a final-year engineering student, have been detained for allegedly engaging in academic dishonesty in cooperation with a small number of candidates taking online versions of international exams like the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). According to a release from Hyderabad police on February 7, according to a report by PTI, the four individuals were engaging in fraud by posting advertisements on social media to help the aspirants obtain high marks in the GRE and TOEFL tests. Two of the defendants once assisted their friends by taking exams.
Through social media adverts promising a good score for Rs 20,000 each, they seduced applicants for the exam. According to the police, applicants for the exam have the option of taking it from home. The other two accused covertly utilized an instant messaging app to photograph the exam paper and distribute it to their friends, including a BTech final-year student (from NIT Raipur), during the test. According to the police, the BTech student would prepare the answers and return the answer sheet back to them, who would then deliver it to the exam-takers.
Another Hyderabadi suspect, who is now at large, allegedly made adverts on social media, assisted the students/candidates in cheating their way into the process, and then collected money from them with the assistance of one of the people arrested.
Following a report about malpractice in Hyderabad, the city police opened an investigation and detained the four suspects at various locations, while some other suspects are still at large, according to the police. Exams like the TOEFL and GRE are essential for getting into the best colleges in the world.
